What does Shouk mean?

Shouk is the Hebrew word for market, referring to the open-air fresh markets common in Israel and the Middle East.

What does plant-based mean?

It means not using any animal products or by-products in our food. Instead, we only use fresh vegetables, grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds.

If you only use plants, where does the protein come from?

Here’s a secret: plants are full of proteins! Cauliflower, mushroom, beans, and tahina, to name just a few of our ingredients, all contain lots of it. Our pitas and bowls combine veggies, legumes, and grains to crate a well-balanced meal. Did you know that cows and pigs also get their protein from plants? We just go straight to the source!

Are you certified Kosher or Halal?

Yes! We're certified Kosher under the supervision of DC Kosher. Since we don't serve meat, we're also Halal!

Can your food be made gluten free? (asking for a friend)

Yes! Most of our bowls are gluten free. So are our salads and most of our snacks; just skip the pita.
